TPS72301DVBR with chip mark of T02I and T36 do not work. With a proper GND working plate and solder gun, I have successfully built a negative power supply of -2.75V with external resistors of 57.6K and 43.2K with T08I.

Why the negative power regulator TPS72301DBVR with chip marks of T02I or T36 do not work? With a proper GND working plate and solder gun, I have successfully built a negative power supply of -2.75V with external resistors of 57.6K and 43.2K for devices with marked as T08I. Does anybody have the similar problem?

  • Hello Jinlin,

We do not have a TPS72301DVBR part, are you referring to TPS72301DBVR?

Also, could you provide us with a bit more information to help debug? (e.g. partial layout, schematic, scope shots of VEN, VIN and VOUT, etc).

    Regards,
    Victor

  • Jinlin,

I looked up the part by the top side marking on TI's Part Look-Up Site and I noticed you mentioned three markings: and T08I, T02I and T36. Note that while T08I does refer to TPS72301DBVR, T02I and T36 do not.

T02I refers to the fixed 2.5 V version of TPS723 and T36 refers to the fixed 2.5 V version of TPS732.

    Regards,
    Victor

  • We had a simliar problem, with the TPS72301DVBR with chip mark of T02I. Once we added the 57.6K and 43.2K we got the same result -2.75V.

Is it possible the chip was labelled incorrectly?

Was there maybe a batch that went through with the wrong marking?

    Thanks

    Joe

  • Hi Joe,

We have not received any returns of mismarked TPS723 devices to date. It is recommended that you contact the authorized distributor that sold you the devices and initiate a return for the devices. Please note that they will request information such as the Date Code, picture of the reel label, etc.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
