Hi,

On page 10 in the datasheet under the Electrical Characteristics table(below), VOVP is nominally 14V. If the part is supposedly rated for "30-V Standalone Single-Input" then when the OVP is triggered, the PWM will be shut-off.

The table above shows the part can "withstand 28 V."

So realistically, the part can only be used at max 14V. Can someone please clarify?

The part can withstand ringing and voltage spikes due, for example, to a 12V adapter hotplug up to 28V recurring, 30V infrequent abs max. The example design per table 4 in the datasheet is for a 5V adapter.

So the 30V is for voltage spikes and in reality the part is 14V typical VIN?

If that's the case, is there an all-in-one solution like the bq24166 but that can handle Vin of > 18V? The Vin for the bq24166 is too close for comfort to our rectified 17.5V.

Try bq24133 which can accept up to 17V.
