Hello,

I'm considering using the BQ76200 part for a design and were looking through the datasheet. I would like to use the PCHG output for driving a MOSFET bypassing the discharge MOSFET to precharge the bulk capacitors in a motor controller connected to the battery. Figure 10 in the datasheet seems to describe exactly what I'm looking for.

The problem is that Figure 10 is a little bit ambiguous, the text and image title hints that the MOSFET should be a P-channel, but the image shows an N-channel, which is correct?

Something went wrong with figure 10. The FET should be a P-channel and the source should still connect to the common drain point of the main power FETs like in figure 9, but the drain should connect through Rpdsg to PACK+ as shown in figure 10. A fix is in work but may take some time. The application report similarly improperly shows N-channel FETs for both the pre-charge and pre-discharge FETs, again those should be P-channel and a fix is in work.

On the right side of the product page www.ti.com/product/bq76200, just right of the device name and below the language selection is an "Alert me" button. If you sign up for alerts you should get an email when there is a change.
