TPS54062. Setting VIN Range and UVLO

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54062

This is my first DC DC converter and I'm having some confusion.

I would like the TPS54602 converter to have Vin ranges from 4.7V to 24V only.

On the data  sheet and the excel sheet they use 6.66V and 7.88V as the input voltage falling and rising but why they chose the values is not explained.

If anyone could help or guide me to the right path i would be very much appreciate it.

  • It is possible to adjust the UVLO level externally. You can use the equation in section 8.3.6 on pages 7 an 8 of the datasheet to adjust the external UVLO.  It does not have high accuracy though (see the tolerance specs on sheet 5). For TPS54062 EVM, the input voltage range is 8 to 60 V, so the UVLO start and stop voltages were set arbitrarily lower than 8V. In your case, 4.7 V is the lower limit of the IC input operating range. The internal UVLO is set at 4.5 V. I would recommend just leaving the UVLO resistors open. There is nothing you can do about the upper limit (outside of designing external control circuit to disable the converter at higher input voltages). Just make sure your Vin does not go higher than you intend.
