BQ40Z60 EVM design AFE fuse

Hi,

according to my understanding the FET (Q7) is not correct. The current that will go trough is much to high, calculated like 2-4 A depending on number of cells and the value of "heater-part" in fuse. The BSS138 can only survive 0.22A.

Your feedback for this will be highly appreciated.

  • You are correct. The FET was placed on the EVM to show the implementation. You will need to size the FET to support your application and fuse.
  • Hi Thomas,

thank You for prompt reply and clarification to this.

Based on this I wonder if there are any other "weak spots" that we need to consider for our implementation.

We intend to follow the reference design in a 2S2P implementation.

One component we have already replaced, the inductor  is replaced with one that can cope higher current and lower temperature.

    Thank You for good support.

I am not aware of any weak points. The EVM BOM is a general set of components that need to be resized to support your specific application. The inductor would be one example. The inductor on the EVM has a saturation current of 5A and will need to be resized to support higher charge currents.
