[SAI IC - Battery Charger + 5A Iin, 1A Ibat, 4A Io]

Hi everybody,

I am looking for an IC which performed the following features:

- Act as SAI (battery charger + power path management from other power DC source).

- Be capable of draining 5A from the DC power source and charging the battery with 1A meanwhile it provides 4A to the load system.

We were thinking in BQ24030 but the input current from AC input is limited to 2A and we do not want the battery to be discharged so as to provide the resto of the demanding ouput current.

Is there any IC which performs that 2 features?

    Can you define SAI for me?

    Also can you clear up the confusion I am having about the second part of that line. You want a single input battery charging IC that support power path correct? However since you are looking into a two input device I think that you want to support two inputs and not just one.

    I am also a little confused about the need for 5A input current support when the input source can only supply 2A.

    That being said the bq24030 is not capable of supporting these currents.

    I think that you would be better off looking at the bq2416x family of parts for their higher current current capabilities. However it is still not 5A.
