questions about wireless power demonstration kit

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ51013, BQ51013BEVM-764, BQ500212AEVM-550, BQ51013B

i;m testing wurth elecktronik and TI's demo kit

it contains bq51013bevm(receiver) and bq500212evm

i want to measure transmission efficiency

i can measure output current with tp7 and j4 ground, it's 5V

but how can i measure output current

data sheet said connect load between J3 and J4

when i connect 10ohm resister between J3 and J4 bq51013 diode is beep just 1seconds and turn off continously

what is exact value of load?

and how can i measure with current multimeter ?

  • Are you using the standard bq51013BEVM-764 and the bq500212AEVM-550 with no modifications?

Initially, try looking at the system with no load at J3.  Then, add a larger resistance (50 ohms for 100mA) to verify there are no significant errors with the system.

Measuring the current out of J3 and into J4 can be done with the 10 ohm resistor you noted (should give 500mA) by using a current probe in the resistor path and monitoring on an oscilloscope.  Another option is by using an ammeter and directing the current from J3 into the ammeter, out of the ammeter to the resistor and from the resistor to ground.

I suggest you monitor the RECT voltage (TP12) and the OUT voltage (J3 or TP7) on the bq51013BEVM-764 with an oscilloscope.  These will tell a lot about the reason for the output turning off.

Additionally, if you have a source meter,  you can program the voltage to less than 5V (4V for example) and set the current limit below 1A.  Again, start at 100mA.  This will allow the bq51013B to act as a power supply.  Since it is providing 5V and the source meter is current limited at 100mA, the source meter will clamp at 100mA and the source meter output voltage will be pulled to 5V by the bq51013B.

    Dick

  • thx for asking

I upload rect voltage and another question please read it.
