PTH12060WAD Early Life Failure

We noticed the Ground pins (1 and 7) on the PTH12060WAD power module often have cold solder joints on units that fail early.  The failure manifests itself by not having a regulated voltage output. Could you verify if this cold solder connection could cause a component failure on the module?

  • Hi Dale:

The power pins on the PTH12060WAD  primary solder connection is tot the bottom of the PCB during the first reflow process. Top Side power pin after the final reflow will or can have vertical under fill when viewed form the top side.

Please contact me at  tguerin@ti.com  directly if you have any additional questions.

    Thanks
