bq33100 EVM capacitance and esr calculation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ33100, BQEVSW

Hello,

I work with the bq33100 EVM. I connected 5 caps (everyone with 25F, 42mOhm,2.7V) to the board. The value of capacitance I expected was 5F, but the  measurement from the board is 52F when I started a learn cycle with command 23. So the result is ten times larger than 5F. What could be the reason for this fault?

The ESR measurement is better. 5*42mOhm=210mOhm. The board gives 270mOhm.

In result the health measurement couldn´t be right when Capicitance measurement is wrong.

Could someone help?

  • Hi Ben,
Can you let me know what eventual application is. I would like to take this discussion offline, so i have sent you a friend invite.

Can you check to make sure the gauge is measuring the voltage of the caps correctly? Can you log the entire learning process using bqEVSW and send the log file accross. bqevsw can log voltage, current and temperature as well as other registers in the RAM of the gauge. Also extract a gg file which contains your configuration settings and send to me. Let me know if you are not certain on how to do all this and i will be happy to explain.

    thanks
    Onyx
