Hi Friends,

I have designed a +-15V/1A DC Dual power supply card by using the LM3o5 metal can voltage regulator, but that design is slightly bulky. Now i am thinking of designing the same card with help of TI's latest series of DC/DC SWIFT converters ...the TPS series, as my I/P is 24V unregulated DC. Now i have zeroed in on the TPS5460 for generating the +15V DC supply which is quite easy, but i am still guessing how to get the Dual supply of + & - . Is there a similar IC in the TPS... series which can do the job of -15V voltage. Plz help TI employees and others....

Thanks for the prompt reply. But how can i use the above in conjunction with with TPS5460 to get +-15V..................................Also can i use the Dual non synchronuos options like TPS54383 etc. as this is having 2 o/p channels can it be used to generate +15v on 1 channel and -15V on 2nd channel.

Muhammad,

The TPS54383's input voltage is only 28V, so it could not be used as an inverting buck-boost with these output voltages and the device does not provide provisions for a negative output.

You could use 2 TPS40200 controllers, one in a standard BUCK configuration to generate the +15V rail and the second in an inverting Buck-Boost configuration to generate the -15V rail.

The inverting Buck-Boost configuration is the same as the BUCK, only you connect the output of the BUCK to the system ground and the ground of the BUCK to the negative output.
