TPS562201 Pulse Skip Mode and TPS562208 Continuous Current Mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS562208, TPS562201

HI Sir/Mdm,

Care to provide what is the differences between TPS562201 Pulse Skip Mode and TPS562208 Continuous Current Mode?

Regard's

  • TPS562208 and TPS562201 are both synchronous converters. They have both an internal high side and low side switch. when the minimum inductor current is above 0 A, they both operate in normal continuous conduction mode (CCM). When the TPS562208 inductor current falls below 0A (goes negative) the low side FET continues to conduct in forced CCM. Switching frequency stay nominally constant. When TPS562201 inductor current falls to 0 A, the device ented esc-mode. The low side switch is turned off during when the inductor current reaches zero and pulses are skipped as the load current decreases further. Eco-mode increases efficiency at light loads. The trade off is non-fixed frequency.
