Hi all,

I have a DC/DC power supply that I want to use as a charger.

meaning it can deliver 65V 2A, but I want to regulate the current to 0.7A @ 65V charging current.

I have seen that LM317 is being used for <37V application in order to regulate current.

what can you suggest for 65V?

is there a better approach?

My apologies for the day. Typical turnaround is 24 hours.
We also have the TL783 which can tolerate voltages up to 125 V.

Hi,

TL783 is very impressive.

I can see it can be used as a current sink (for LED driving for example), but it does not have that internal comparator the LM317 has which allows it to regulate the current on the output.

am I right?

The TL783 works in a similar manner to the LM317 where the output is set based on connecting the reference voltage across an external resistor. It looks like you attached an image in your first post, but I can't see it. Which Figure are you referring to in the LM317 datasheet?

Is it figure 19? www.ti.com/.../lm317.pdf

If so, the TL783 can be used in a similar manner because the output current can be limited based on the reference voltage and an external resistor. Similar to Figure 17 in the datasheet: www.ti.com/.../tl783.pdf
