  • The thermal metrics are listed in the datasheet on page 2. The theta j-a is for a JEDEC standard coupon and is really for comparison purposes only. The actual power dissipation rating will depend greatly on your particular PCB design. I would suggest you use the Webtherm simulator inside of webench to estimate your power dissipation limits relative to your available copper area.  Based on the EVM design, webench indicates a 40 deg C temperature rise at full 4 A output.  So you should get very close to full output at 85 C ambient (125 C junction temperature).
