Technical Advice involving a PTH08T230WAD Power Module

We are using a PTH08T230WAD Power Module in one of our designs. There is a chip of Ferrite material broken off from the top surface of the power module's inductor. There is a portion (approx <25% ) of ferrite material missing from the top surface of the inductor bobbin assembly. I do have and can supply photos that show the damaged and missing portion of the top surface of the inductor. I would like to discuss how this missing chip of Ferrite material might affect the operation of the power module.Thank you. Bob Shepard, Component Engineer, MIT Lincoln Laboratory.

The PTH08T230W inductor if broken off can affect the power module integrity and performance.

I recommend this module be replaced.

I have a couple follow-up questions for Tom and others.

Tom's reply states "inductor if broken off". Question: Did you receive and review the photographs that I had supplied?Just to be clear, we are talking about just a piece broken off of the top surface of the bobbin, and not the entire inductor broken off.

One last question: Is it viable for us to replace the inductor only, and what are the pros/cons/risks of doing that?

I did no t see a photographs in the previous request.

The power inductor is also has stabilizing glue to PCB under it to prevent any vibration issues.
