UCC27201A-Q1 VHI,VLI tolerance data

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC27201A, UCC27201, UCC28711, UCC27211

Dear Support Team

Could you provide any actual value data of  VHI,VLI pin pulse voltage tolerance?

It is helpful if you can provide below data.

◆Conditon

-5V/500ns pulse applied VHI,VLI pin

  • Hi Tomohiro-san

Can you post a image of the section of datasheet that you need the information on? I can identify the section with the "-5V/500ns pulse applied VHI,VLI pin"

    Thanks

    Peter
  • Hello Tomohiro,

For the VHI and VLI pins, I am not seeing the pulse rating for the voltage on the pins. The VHS, VHO and VLO have pulse ratings as shown in the Abs Max Rating table which are implied as maximum time and voltage.

Are you referring to the VHS, VHO or VLO pins?

  • Dear Tomohiro,

As you can see in the datasheet's Absolute Maximum Rating table, -0.3V is the maximum negative voltage on HI and LI pin, which is for both transient (500ns) and steady state DC.
I will check with design team if they differ from my understanding.
Please let me know if I could be of any other help.

    Thanks and regards,
    Ritesh

    Thank you for quick response.
I am sorry for lack of explanation.
    My question is below.

For VLO or VLI pin, how much voltage of 500ns negative pulse ucc27201A can tolerate?
I understand that this can not be guaranteed , so I hope to any actual data if you have it.

    Regards

  • For the UCC27201 LO and HI pins there is an EDS protection cell which limits the pin voltage to ~ a diode drop below ground. The negative current needs to be limited with a series resistance. For -5V a series resistance of 500 Ohms will limit the negative current, if that is OK in the application.

The UCC28711 driver input is specifically designed to tolerate -10V on the LI and HI pin inputs. The best recommendation would be to use this part for negative voltage tolerance on the LI and HI pins.

  • Correction to the alternative part, with -10V tolerance on LI and HI. The part number is the UCC27211.
