LM2679 - About threshold of thermal shutdown

Guru 21045 points

Hi Team,

We would like to know about threshold of thermal shutdown.

I was not able to find this value.

However, I guess that this value is “TJ=160℃”.

Is my understanding correct?

And, I have one more question.

If junction temperature is less than this threshold, does "AA" restart?

Regards,

Kanemaru

  • Hello,
While this value is not usually spec'ed, it is typically around 160 C. When thermal shutdown is triggered then the part shutsdown and stays that way until the temperature has fallen to a lower value. The lower value is determined by a hysteresis. The hysteresis value is typically 10 to 20 C. Therefore the device will restart after the temperature has fallen about 140 to 150 C.

Do you need data on this? Or was this answer helpful?
