I am in the process of changing a design to use the bq27520 which currently uses the bq27500. On the bq27520 the BAT_GD and BAT_LOW output pins are push-pull which is an (unwelcome) change from the bq27500 where they were open-drain. Being push-pull means that they now have to have external level translators (since the 2.5V operating voltage of the gauge is unusual). This increases the cost of using the bq27520 considerably.
