UCC29002 : current sharing among converter through the LS bus

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC29002

My question is about failure management of  UCC29002. What will happen to this sharing of load if one LS pin from one of the IC UCC29002  is internally shorted to the either the VDD or ground ? Will this cause every converter that is connected to the LS bus to shut down due to protection mechanism inside the UCC29002. thanks

  • Hi Lim,

We appear to have missed this post for a long time! Sorry about that, did you originally post to the ac/dc isolated forum ?

I will ask one the applications engineers to look at this.

    Regards

  • Hello Lim
If the LS bus is shorted to GND or VDD then the UC29002 controller generates an internal FAULT signal which pulls the non-inverting input of the Adjust Amp low and brings the ADJ current to zero. This will happen on each of the UCC29002 controllers in the system so all converters and the current sharing will be inactive. This behavior is described in the 'fault protection' section of the datasheet.
I hope that this is clear, if not then please just ask.
    Regards
