Help required on LM2662MX/NOPB inverter IC.

I am using LM2662MX/NOPB to invert my +2.5V input. In datasheet you mentioned need two capacitors, one is at output pin and one is at CAP+ and CAP- pin of IC. Does it require polarized caps or ceramic is also fine? Is there any specific value as well as specification required to meet the good results.

Thanks,

Nilesh

  • Hello,

Per the datasheet spec, the values of C1 and C2 should be 47uF.  However, these values can be lowered depending upon the load requirement.  On page 15 of the datasheet, you will see the effects of capacitance as well as capacitor type on output impedance.  Output impedance will determine how much voltage droop you will get on your output for a given load current.

You can use polarized or ceramic caps if you like.  If using polarized caps, care much be taken to ensure the caps are placed in the correct configuration to avoid damage.  If using ceramics, please take not of the effective capacitance at 2.5V as ceramics have a decrease in capacitance under DC bias.
