TPS386596

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS386596

Hi,

I am using TPS386596 for generating Power On Reset for the processor. The power lines needs to be monitored are 3.3V,1.8V,1.35 & 0.9V .As per the datasheet 3.3V can directly connect to sense 1. For others I need to use resistor dividers .The formula shown in datasheet  is VMON = (1 + RSnH/RSnL) × 0.4 (V)

But the resistor values shown in "Detailed Design Procedure" page 13 ,table 3 are not matching with the equation provided.

For eg  for sensing 1.5V rail ; RSH = 25.5K & RSL = 10 kΩ ( As per equation it will be RSH = 27.5K & RSL = 10 kΩ )

Also in table 3 mentioned about RS4M = 1K but nowhere explained What is RS4M

Please clarify these doubts...

Regards,

Leo

  • Hi Leo,

I believe the confusion lies in table 2. The design requirement for Vmon(2) is 1.5V - 5% or 1.425V. When using 1.425V instead of 1.5V the equation does yield 2.5k as the closest resistor.

I agree that RS4M is not properly defined in the datasheet. This resistor is used in series with RS4H to provide an effective resistance closer to the theoretical value calculated. The effective to resistor is RS4H + RS4M = 15.3k.

    Very Respectfully,
    Ryan
