VBUS ripple

VBUS input for the BQ2589x is within the range 3.9 to 14. Is there a spec for PSRR or something which would allow VBUS to come from a 100Hz partially smoothed d.c. adapter with relatively large ( 2-3Vp-p) ripple. Question has been asked for another  device but no answer.

  • We do not test or specify PSRR for our charger's buck converter. At 100Hz ripple, I would expect our charger, with its >1000Hz feedback loop bandwidth, to be able to filter out the ripple. I would be more concerned about appropriately setting the charger's VINDPM feature so that the charger will not reduce input current limit to zero on a trough.
