120W Non- Isolated DC-DC Converter design

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5118, LM5122, LM5025C, LM5025

 120W  non-isolated DC-DC Power supply design.

Input Voltage- 18-60VDC

Output-54VDC/2.3A

TA -70DegreeC

Effficiency-85 to90%

We selected LM5118 based buck boost topology

Let us know selected IC (LM5118) is suitable for application? or please suggest any buck boot converter/SEPIC ICs for above spec?

Early reply will be highly appreciated

Thanks

  • Ajesh,

The LM5118 should be able to meet the specifications. Note that to achieve the desired efficiency, careful selection of the output diode and the free wheeling diode of the buck leg must happen. Please try the design in Webench.

Suggestion for a SEPIC controller would be the LM5122. Please also have a look at this IC.

    Thanks,

  • Thanks Garrett.........

I have one more query regarding LM5025C IC

    Topology-Isolated, (Active clamp forward converter)

    Input voltage- 18-75VDC

    Output- 3.3V/12A

We used transistor based linear regulator for powering IC. Our input voltage is 18-75VDC. When we supply more than 30VDC the linear regulator is getting heated up. What we observed is the LM5025 IC is taking 55mA supply current

Let us know why VCC is going in to current limit mode(55mA)? or will it take 55mA supply current?

    Thanks& regards
