USB current Auto detect

Hi,

We are planning to use USB charging and would like a product that could detect the charging source to determine the correct charging current which can be anywhere from 100 mA to 1.5 A. Is there such a device?

I've looked at the BQ24253 and the BQ24250 but it looks like I need some external circuitry to detect and set the EN pins correctly.

The bq24297 looks like it could work for our application. Our product also uses USB for communication to an external host so I'm assuming that there is no interference? Is there an indication when charger source detection has completed? The D+ and D- lines on our product are switched between the USB connector and the processor for communication with an external host and could remain open until after charger source has been detected.

Hi Elizabeth

There will be no interference if the processor keeps D+/D- lines floating for more than 400ms when adapter is plugged in.

Refer bq2419x USB Interface.pdf ,what is required for bq24190 and is applicable for bq24297.

Yes, there is a indication by interrupt (INT pin).

Refer Datasheet Section : 9.3.4.3 Interrupt to Host (INT)
