I need to regulate a single Li-ion cell output to +3.3V with a very light load of 0.5 to 3.0 mA. Since the cell output can range from (roughly) 4.2V to 2.5V I need a regulator that can boost and buck, so a SEPIC seems like a good topology. I already have a TPS61041 on my PCB, and although the datasheet only shows it used in boost applications, it seems like the IC's topology can also be wired up as a SEPIC; any reason I don't want to do that?
Any other topologies I should be considering?
Thanks in advance.
