About LM5116 internal block

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM5116

My Customer designing circuit to use LM5116.

I have questions.

This is an image of the FET drive for the output stage (HO, LO) of the LM5116.

Depending on the operating status of the FET, there is that the Gate of the external FET,

which is connected to the HO / LO pin is pulled to the negative,

it might also be drawn to the negative voltage in the same manner HO / LO terminal.

■Question 1

Is it correct recognition Body Diode is built into the LM5116?

■Question2

The reason that has been defined by the absolute maximum rating and -0.3V is, or will for the Body normally do not conduct?

■Question3(Question2 is correct case)

HO / LO terminal is from the fact that shows the ability of the 2.2 / 3.5A at Sink Current, Body Diode also actually I think that has the same current capacity.
If this understanding is correct, the allowable current of the Body Diode, or power would be how much?
Also, please tell me the maximum value defined for the allowable current and power of the driver. (Is one also may be in a short period of time allowable value.)
■Question4(Question3 is difficult case)
In the positive and negative voltage and current and power provisions of the HO / LO pin,
please tell us ability allowable value and the guaranteed value.
■Question5
If you draw a HO / LO pin to the negative by more than -0.3V, please tell me the short-time rating.

  • Sorry

Had been accompanying the image view, But it was not able to attach.
    I will post again.

HO / LO and SW / GND of the absolute maximum rating, which is described in DataSheet is -0.3V.

  • Hi Ozawa-san

Your questions are too deep and I am not allowed to post the information on the public site.
Please send your questions through local FAE by e-mail.

  • Hi Eric-san

    Thank you for your replay.

    And,I will ask local FAE.

Please be one to question just in case.

    I checked other device.

LM5140 has transient breakdown voltage indatasheet 5page [6.1 Absolute Maximum Ratings].

    For example, [SW1, SW2 to PGND (20ns transient) : -5V min].

I think that resemble functional Block Diagram of the LM5116 and LM5140.

    LM5116 has the same specs?
