LMZ14203TZ with remote sense leads and variable output

I am using the LM14203TZ at 5V, 1A.

Can use the LMX14203TZ with remote sense leads?

Can I switch the output voltage from 5V to 1.8V by shorting a resistor (with a FET)?

Application is a display. They require 5V for daylight and 1.8V for night.

You can switch the outputs between 5V and 1.8V. But make sure the overall BOM results in stable outputs for both conditions. What do you mean by using the device with remote sense leads? Could you elaborate a bit?

Appologies... I meant remote sense leads to compensate for voltage drop in the power signals.

Technically you can make as long lines as you want to the FB node from your VOUT sense point (VOUT being a low impedance node). Your FB resistors should be kept very close to the FB node (FB being a high impedance node). So, yes, you can use the device with remote sense. The duty cycle will adjust accordingly to any change in VOUT due to voltage drop.

In situations, when the load is going to be much away from the point of regulation, then cable compensation IC can be used. This is usually the case with automotive applications.
