Switching waveform became Turbulent on TPS53014EVM. Is the problem?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53014

Dear support member,

My customer used TPS53014.
Output voltage changed to 5V at TPS53014 EVM.

Input voltage is 24V case.
Switching waveform became constant.

Input voltage is 22V case.
Switching waveform became Turbulent.

Waveform attached file.

Is this waveform, the problem with IC operation?

Output voltage accuracy and ripple voltage and load regulation is Influence?

Best regard.
Bob Lee.

  • Did you change anything on the EVM other than the resistor divider?  For 5 V operation you may need to change the inductor value.  You are operating near the CCM/DCM boundary, so that is probably proper operation.  When you increase the load do you get consistent CCM operation?  When you decrease the load do you get consistent DCM operation?  With a larger inductor value, the CCM/DCM boundary will be lower.  Also it is possible that too small inductor value may cause the crossover frequency to be too high.

  • Dear John Tucker,

I'm sorry. I delayed for reply.
