TPS61222-EP Load Regulation

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61070, TPS61240, TPS61222

Hello!

I am using the TPS6122-EP and have been trying to verify that its performance matches its datasheet for my application. I am specifically looking at the load regulation.

My input is 3.3V and I need an output of 5V.  The Enable pin is being turn on by a microprocessor elsewhere (LCD_BKLT_EN). Here is the current configuration:

I am placing a load across TP 210 with a DC programmable load. My minimum load is at 10mA and my maximum load is at 175mA (according to Figure 2 in the datasheet). However when I apply the maximum load, the output voltage significantly decreases away from 5v and does not match the load regulation specification.

I have looked at other forums on this topic that have suggested that the components need to be very close to each other. This has already been achieved on my PCB.

I would like to know how to improve the load regulation.

Thank you!

  • the reason is that the current limit of device has reach. the average input current limit of TPS61222 is approx. 120mA, and i expect approx. 60mA output current capability. you should select TPS61240 or TPS61070 for your application.

by the way, may i konw why do you select TPS61222?
  • Hi Jasper!

I am using the TPS61222EP because it is an enhanced product (EP).

How should I go about verifying the load regulation. Should the maximum load be at 120mA, 5V? I tried to attach such a load and only got a load regulation of 6% and not 0.05%.

Are there any "EP" versions of the parts you recommended?

    Thanks!
