I have a battery management system designed for an 8 cell lithium (LFP) pack using (2) BQ76PL536A chained together. Each BQ76 manages 4 cells, with VC4-VC6 all shorted together. We have noted that cells 5-8 consistently draw about 10mA more from the pack than cells 1-4, so when they are in storage for a few weeks or months the "top" cells become severely imbalanced relative to the "bottom" cells. It's not isolated to a single pack, they all exhibit this behavior. What could be causing this?
