tps54334 output inductor value

Hi,

I need your advice regarding on the inductor usage.

My DCDC specs are as below:

- Vin(min) = 17V

- Vin (max) = 25V

- Vout = 5.1V

- Iout = 2A

Based on WEBENCH (or product spec’s equation), it recommends to have the inductor value of 22uH.

But 22uH with Idc > 2A is very costly. This will make TI DCDC become no cost merit.

I am thinking of using 15uH, 10uH or 6.8uH inductor.

Can you please advise on what is the potential issue if we use smaller inductor value?

I foresee the ripple current will be high. Is there any way to compensate this issue?

Kindly advise
