LP8860C-Q1 only blinking

Hi all,

we will use LP8860C-Q1 for driving backlight under mode5 (spec page 27 / fig 18) and connceted all outputs together shown small schematic.

To test first we only use one white LED. After POWER ON this LED only blink in frequency of ~3Hz. Then we try to program EEPROM, but firstly we would like to know which SPI-mode is used at LP8860C-Q1, We study spec again and again to find the reason for blinking, but doesn't understand the adjustements fully.

In general we would like to use the LP8860C-Q1 in PWM-mode and learned that EEPROM must be programed first - but how we should do it?

To have guarantee to reach the EEPROM, we tried to read the VENDOR values (register 12H), but which values we could expect for this???

Could help anybody quickly????

Kind regards

Kersten

  • Hello,

Boost output voltage is limited to 16...48V. So if you have only one LED connected to the output it is very possible that the device goes to thermal shutdown due to excessive headroom voltage on LED outputs.

You can read the generated fault from register 0x0F. Blinking means that the device enters fault recovery state.

See page 66 for details on the EEPROM programming.

Default EEPROM values are in the table in page 50.

    Thanks,
