Which tool to use with bq34z100 : it's specific eval tool or general TI Battery Management Studio

Actually I already have bqStudio downloaded.  My question is there are two software programs for this chip.

One is specific to the chip which can be downloaded here:

The bq34z100 Evaluation Software only applies to the old bq34z100 device and it cannot be used with the bq34z100-G1 device. The Mathcad software is an old tool that was used to find a ChemID match. It has been replaced with an online tool.

Thanks. It's odd that when I use the bq34z100 Evaluation Software, it seems to run fine, but when I tried to use the bqStudio, a pop up warning message says that "the detected device may not work with the application".

Have you programmed the device with the bq34z100-G1 firmware? The bqStudio program should auto-detect after the firmware has been loaded.

I was using the EVAL board so I assume the firmware has been programmed. But even with the warning message, I was able to use the bqStudio and read/write register. When I read back "DEVICE_TYPE", I got back 0x0100.  FW_VERSION is 0x0006.  HW_VERSION is 0x0080.

I mean I can either use both software tools and read/write registers OK.
