BQ27421 for Lithium thionyl Chloride Spiral (Li-SOCI2) Battery

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27421-G1, CC3200

Hi,

for our IoT development Project we have used Fuel Gauge BQ27421-G1. we wanted use Lithium thionyl Chloride Spiral (Li-SOCI2) Battery. could you please let me know whether it can support basic functional reading i.e Voltage. Current monitoring and GPOUT pin trigger through I2C interface.

  • Hi Narasimha,

The device can monitor voltage current and temperature but it wasn't made to support primary cells such as the one you have so SOC measurement will be inaccuracte. You can use the read VIT daata to write your own code for SOC estimation.

    thanks

  • Hi Onyx,

    Thanks for the information.

Since we already designed a IOT platform with this fuel gauge and PCBA also came, need to deliver this board by next week. as we are using Non-Rechargeable Battery and need to support basic monitoring functions i.e Voltage, Current and Low Battery indication.

Could you please provide the commands read the Voltage ,Current and Enable the GPOUT pin through CC3200 MCU I2C Interface.

    Regards,

  • Hi Narasimha

Details of the gauge registers can be found in the technical reference manual. See link below:

see pages 20 and 22 and 13 for details on the voltage, current and Gpout respectively.

    thanks
