Purpose of V[-] 2.2k Resistor in bq29700 Circuit

Can someone tell me the purpose of the 2.2k resistor in the bq29700 suggested circuit.

I'd like to know the tolerance on this.  I wonder if I can other values to reduce BOM line-item count on my board.

  • The resistor will provide some isolation of the pin from the PACK transients limiting current into the pin and provide a voltage drop across its bias current. There is no recommended range beyond the nominal value as you have noted. The part should function with a different value, but you may notice some shift in the Vshort condition where the 2.2k appears as a test condition.
