Questions regarding to TI BQ24010 (Charge Management IC)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24010, BQ25100, BQ24040, BQ25101

Hi Guys

I have two questions regarding to BQ24010 (Li-lon Charge Management IC for Handheld Applications).

1. the normal charging current for my project is only 40mA, based on the datasheet, the pre-charge current will be calculated as one tenth of 40mA = 4mA. The taper current should also be 4mA.

However, the datasheet pages 3 and 4 say the pre-charge current ranges from 10mA – 100mA and the taper current range is 10-100mA as well.

Then, what will be the pre-charge current and taper current for my project?

2. How to sense the battery temperature?

Regarding to Fig. 3 on the datasheet, the Ts pin connected to the internal resistor of the battery. Then, I believe, when the temperature changes, the internal battery resistance will change correspondingly. Thus, the voltage of Ts changes. The temperature sensing circuit in the IC will sense the temperature this way.

However, in reality, there are only two pins on battery (Vcc and Gnd), where to find an extra pin to connect with Ts?

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks a lot

Best regards
