Could you tell me about "MicroSiP module devises" ?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS82085, TPS81256, LMZ10501

Hello.
My customer is evaluating any MicroSiP module devises, now.
I have gotten some questions about this product .

<Question>

①About TPS82085

The TPS82085's datasheet isn't description of Capacitor Lifetime vs Capacitor Case Temperature (like the datasheet of the TPS81256).

Is the reason that ,TPS82085 isn't mounted the capacitor?  (Yes or No ?)

②About LMZ10501

Which the packages is "SE08A-8" or "uSil-8"?

③About TPS82085(Tell me again ,but it was already heard .)

If the room temperature is changed to 85 ℃ from 25 ℃,
what percentage does the PFM-PWM mode transition load change ?

So, could you help us?

Best Regards,

Masumi Sekiguchi

  • Regarding the LMZ10501: The package drawing number is SIL0008A.  It is referred to as a "uSiIP" package type.

  • Thanks for immediate reply .

Please also tell us about other questions .
  • Hi Masumi-san,

1.TPS82065 has an external capacitor which is selected by customer.
    2. If the room temperature is changed to 85 ℃ from 25 ℃,
what percentage does the PFM-PWM mode transition load change ?
We need to know exactly specification (what is input and output voltage)?

  • Thank you, Lubomir Fenic-san !

    2-1 For example,when VIN = 3.3V/VOUT= 0.8V/IOUT=2.25A, what happens?
    2-2 For example,when VIN = 3.3V/VOUT= 2.5V/IOUT=0.2A, what happens?

  • Hi Masumi-san,

    • For example,when VIN = 3.3V/VOUT= 0.8V/IOUT=2.25A, what happens?

TPS82085 is working in PWM mode because output current is high. The inductor ripple current is 0.542A(peak to peak value) and load current is 2.25A

which means that TPS82085 is definitely in PWM mode.

    • For example,when VIN = 3.3V/VOUT= 2.5V/IOUT=0.2A, what happens?

Output load is lower than half of the inductor ripple current (0.542A/2=0.271A) so it means that TPS82085 is working in PSM mode. Estimated switching

                frequency is: 1.759MHz.

Calculations are based on formulas 1,2 and 3 from datasheet of TPS82085.

  • Thank you, Lubomir Fenic-san !

    sorry.
What I want to hear is , the PFM-PWM mode transition current is whether the change how much by the temperature change .

Please ignore the current value of the foregoing conditions .

Therefore, we want answers in PWM or PSM without ,
the PFM-PWM mode transition current when the temperature is changed from 25℃ to 85℃ is whether to change what percentage .

I'm sorry in busy schedule, but please tell me .

  • Hi Masumi-san,

would you please answer following questions regarding customer applications:

    • Vin=3.3V, Vout=0.8V:
      • what is the output capacitance in customer application?
      • what is the initial current and target load current for transition from PFM->PWM mode?
    • Vin=3.3V, Vout=2.5V:
    • what is the output capacitance in customer application?
    • what is the initial current and target load current for transition from PFM->PWM mode?

    Best regards
