Hi,

Now our customer is looking for the boost converter that has zero duty operation and forced PWM mode. I have found TPS6123x and TPS61253x which have zero duty operation but don't have forced PWM mode. Do you have such converter which can meet following requirement?

Vin = 3.0V to 4.2V (Li-Ion 1 cell) and 5.0V (VBUS), switch input source
Vout = 5.0V
Iout(max) = 1.0A

Sonoki,

TPS61253A is just fit for your application (it has Force PWM / Ultrasonic mode). But this new part is under development, and will have samples few months later.

How about the schdule at the customer side? what is the detailed application? you can send the information to me by email: helen-chen@ti.com

And if the schedule is OK, we can send the samples and EVMs to you ASAP.

Or you can also check TPS61089 . This part has been RTMed, it has FPWM mode. You can found its datasheet from the TI website.

TPS61030 has power save mode so it can't operate with forced PWM mode, right?

the TPS61030 has a SYNC pin to disable/enable the Power save mode. the device operates at forced PWM mode if PSM is disable.

Hi Jesper,

Sorry for missing about SYNC pin. TPS61030 can disable power save mode, but they also need zero duty operation (pass through mode). Anyway I appreciate for introducing your recommended devices.

i tested VIN>VOUT condition with TPS61030 before. at this condition, the high side mosfet will always on, and VOUT follows VIN.

TPS61030 is an old device. we normally suggest the latest devices if they can meet the requirement. i suggest TPS61030 here in case that someone may look for similar device.

I'd like to verify my understanding of this. Specific use case is Vin can range from 4.75V to 5.25V, and output voltage is set for 5V. Power save mode is off. Please verify that when Vin increases above 5.0V that Vout will follow Vin. Is this correct? Thanks.

Yes, the VOUT follow VIN. what is your application? i would suggest TPS61230 if you need zero cycle mode.

in zero cycle mode, the high side MOSFET keeps on and low side MOSFET keep off. please refer to TPS61230 datasheet for more detail
