Sorry if this question has already been asked

Is it possible to add fold back current limiting to a LM2596 regulator ? if so is there a example circuit for me to look at

To add external current limit you would need an opamp and reference to sense the output current. The opamp would control the FB pin input. This would be very messy since you would need to compensate this loop. In general it is not easy to add external current limit to a high gain regulator.
