Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24773, BQ24770, BQ24780S, BQ40Z50-R1

Hello to whom it may concern,

Could you please advice about some question for the BQ24770(BQ24773) & BQ24780S?

Q1 : If charge voltage and charge current sets to the BQ2477X & BQ24780S from host, can these control automatically about charge sequence ?

Q2 : Can these use JEITA BATTERY TEMP MONITORING function?
If there is method to corresponded by host, could you please tell me how to achieve it?

Best regards,

Manabu Ito

  • Can you please explain what "charge sequence" are you referring to?

Regarding 2, the bq2477x and bq24780S does not have battery pack temperature monitoring function. You will need an gauge or monitoring device to monitor battery pack temperature.

  • Hello Zou-san

Firstly, I apologise for the delay in replying to you.

    > Can you please explain what "charge sequence" are you referring to?

---> It means like a Typical charging profile.
For example, it's like a Figure 6(page 8) of attatched datasheet.
In this case, please answer about Q1.

    > Regarding 2, the bq2477x and bq24780S does not have battery pack temperature monitoring function.
You will need an gauge or monitoring device to monitor battery pack temperature.

---> If i use gauge or monitoring device, could you please tell me the recommended device that is capable of JEITA temp monitoring?

    Best regards,

  • Regarding 1, yes, once the charge current, voltage, and other charge commend has been set, the charger will start to charge the battery with a typical Li-ion charging profile.

Regarding 2, for broadcast over SMBus we have the bq40z50-R1.
