Are you referring to the additional Schottky diode from SW to PMID on the schematic? If so, then that diode is used during OTG mode to improve efficiency by providing a lower voltage drop than the internal rectifying FET's body diode.

Hi Jeff

One of customer design in BQ25895M and have some question of several REGxx function.

Customer product inside power bank and first time using BQ25895M part.

Status is 1st working and then 2nd PP start 3week of June. about 100 set.

Higher efficiency from external diode during boost mode does typically allow for slightly higher output current but we cannot warranty such operation due to external component.
