TPS53641

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS53641

Hi Sirs

what's the different between Pinstrap mode and NVM mode for TPS53641

and what's the priority between pin strap and NVM?

thanks

  • Hi Logan,

TPS53641 has  build-in non-volatile memory (NVM) and PMBus interface. The default setting of all the configuration should be detected from pinstrap setting( external resistor selection). However, the users can overwrite the settings via PMBus and stored in NVM after power sequence is complete. This will help board debug and fine tune. Pinstarp and NVM should be used at same time and no priority.

    Thanks,

    Nancy

  • Hi Logan,
The TPS53641 has a pin SKIP_NVM. When 3.3V is applied and part wakes up first, A resistor value from this pin to GND defines that part will take values from Internal NVM or Pinstrap. So if user willing to save lot of resistors for pinstrap NVM is the option, but the catch is to program the NVM before the First usage in the board, there are two ways to program, either before soldering in program JIg with 3.3V supply and PMBUS using StoreNVM default optin OR aftert soldering in Board, and at first MB power up, Write NVM before applying ENABLE. then do store default NVM
