BQ27GDK000EVM discharging problem

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ27532EVM-656, BQSTUDIO

Hello,

Our client has problem with BQ27GDK000EVM, we already replaced the board, but they are still experiencing problems.

Please see description below:

We have some problems with the bq27gdk000evm (and the bq27532evm-656) evaluation kit.
We bought one bq27gdk000evm and were able to do a few battery cycles (data for chemistry calculator) with it (5 Ah, single cell, Li-Poly battery) and with the use of bqStudio software. But after a few cycles bq27gdk000evm unexpectedly died.

Anyway we did get another bq27gdk000evm board, but this board will not discharge the battery (we tried a few different batteries).

The procedure we done so far:
      - as per instructions we firstly updated the EV4000 firmware,
      - connect it as per schematics,
      - configured and calibrated the fuel gauge (bq27532evm-656)
      - charge the battery (1A charging current) with no problems,
      - try to discharge the battery (500 mA) -> it will not discharge: this is the message we get: Start Task: Discharge) End Task (Unexpected): Discharge - false Complete!

As per instructions on the e2e forum (e2e.ti.com/.../1697160 all the connections were double checked, still no success.

When charging the fuel gauge reports all parameters (current, voltage) as they should be.

Is there a new FW for the bq27gdk000evm (the GDK MSP) available? Can the problem be with the bq27532evm module?

Could you please advise?

Thank you!
