What voltage are you getting at the output and what are your loading conditions?
What voltage are you measuring across R1?
Also if you could share a schematic it would be easier to answer your question.

Your resistor selection is correct, and 3V of headroom (12V-9V) should be adequate.

Knowing what your actual Vout is at would be helpful. Too high, too low?

You should have 1.25V (Vref) across R1 (i.e. 120 ohms between OUT pin and ADJ pin), and 7.812V across R2 (i.e. 750 ohms between ADJ pin and Ground)..

      Vout = Vref + (( Vref / R1 ) * R2)

      Vout = 1.25V + (( 1.25 / 120) * 750)

      Vout = 1.25V + 7.812V = 9.06V

I am getting 11v at output.

It seems that you have enough load current.

What is your adjust pin voltage?

Also If you increase your load does the output change?
