Hello,

I am designing a 6S13P battery pack and my question is, do I need 13 BQ76PL536A for 13 strings of 6 cells in series or can I use only one BQ76PL536A an parallel 13 cell in series with 6 lines of 13 cells? If I can parallel the cells, what is the limit of cells I can put in parallel.

Carlos,

Just consider are 6S1P. 13P will equalized righ away so you don;t need to have a PL536A for each P.

There is a reference schematic in the Bq76PL536a-q1 datasheet.
Or, you can search for TIDA-00821.

If I have a 6S13P battery pack, can I use the aforementioned BQ76PL536A evaluation board? Basically, 13 batteries in the balancing node and then the 13 batteries in series forming a 6S13P pack.

Carlos,

Remember, this is passive balance solution and you can balance all 6S.

Just to make sure we are in same page. You can't balance 13P. They will balance out. You are not going to have 3V and 4V cells in parallel.

Balancing is for series not Parallel.

Yes, PL536A can do passive balancing.
