We are using the BQ2004H for a mobile battery charger that could have any where from 1 to 4 batteries and we only have so much power we can use for charging the batteries.
I understand that the charge rate is set by Rsns, however, we are hoping that we can use a FET to switch in different resistors to allow for different charge rates depending on how many batteries are installed. The question I have is, if we are charging at C/8 and the batteries reach full charge, (we are using 4 different chips, one for each battery) We want to be able to use the trickle charge feature of the chip, if we change Rsns to C/4 and the timing pins to C/4.
1. Do we need to reset power to the IC or can we just use the INH pin to start a new charge cycle.
2. if we use the INH pin to start the new charge cycle, and the batteries are already charged, will it by default then go into the trickle charge mode?
3. Why does the chip not allow trickle charge in C/8?
Thanks
