BQ76920EVM Can't set DSG_ON or CHG_ON Bit to 1

Hi I am having setting up my BQ76920EVM to supply current to a load. I had it working previously but made some changed to my code and now I cannot get it back to where it was at. I tried stripping down the code just to verify that I could alter the DSG_ON bit to 1 but no luck. All other bits in the SYS_CTRL_2 reg are able to be altered except the DSG_ON and CHG_ON bits which are stuck at 0. There are no faults occurring that should be tripping these back to 0 so I am worried that it could be a hardware issue. Please Help!
