We are doing the learning cycle for BQ40Z50-R1 but during the first charging cycle, we encountered an OC (Overcharge) Safety Alert.

Based from BQ40Z50R1 TRM, Overcharge Safety Alert is triggered if RemCap > FullChargeCapacity.

However the SBS log data shows that this RemCap was not higher than FullChargeCapacity which means that the alert should not have been triggered.

I sent you the log data for your reference.

Our Overcharge protection Threshold is 456mAh.

Kindly help to explain why there was an OC Safety Alert?

Did we overlook any setting or parameter that might have caused this incident?

The RemCap does exceed FCC at the time [OC] is set, but you must have RSOCL set in the Sbs Gauging Configuration register and this holds SOC at 99% and clamps RemCap until charge termination. You can check the True and Filtered ReMCap and FCC columns to see the real values. I would not worry about the [OC] fault until after you have completed the optimization cycle.
