bq76200 sink/source current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ76200

Hi Team,

I cannot find sink current and source current of CHG/ PCHG/ DSG pins from bq76200 datasheet.

Please advise these values.

Regards,

  • The bq76200 has resistive drivers as described in the electrical characteristic tables. Currents must be calculated. The supply for the drivers is provided by the charge pump, so maximum total current will be approximately 30 uA. Initial switching current comes from the CVDDCP capacitor. Peak turn on currents will be approximately 12V/1.1k ~= 11 mA for the CHG output. For the DSG output the value will depend on the battery voltage as well. Peak currents will be higher and the discharge FET must act as a source follower or the CVDDCP will quickly be discharged and the driver will turn off.
Peak turn off currents can also be calculated. For the CHG output peak current will be approximately 12V/300 ohm = 40 mA. For the DSG output the peak current is approximately 12V/1k = 12 mA. The DSG driver sinks current to GND, however it drives to the PACK pin level. If the PACK pin is high or does not fall with PACK+, the discharge FET operates as a source follower with continued current flow.
