Please introduce a TI reference design for 248 pcs LED driven

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC59116, UCC28810, UCC28811, LM3444, TPS92210, LM3447

Hi TI folks,

Good day to you. I hope to get your advise on a LED driver board design.

I am going design a AC/DC LED driver board, below is the requirement:

1. 230V AC input (+/-15%)

2. Include a PFC circuit in the driver board.

3. Two LED strings, each string has 124 ~ 126 pcs LED, LED spec: typical is 2.9~3.2V@60mA,

4. Two LED driver circuit (one drivern circuit for one LED string).

Please advise:

1. The suitable connection method of the LED string

Example: 4 pcs LED is parallel as group A type, Serial 31 group type A => 124 pcs

9 pcs LED is parallel as group A type, Serial 14 group type A => 126 pcs

2. Please advise a TI reference design / board for above two LED strings driving.

Best regards

Jiang WeiJi

  • Hi Jiang,

I don't have a TI reference design, but the TLC59116 can be used when driving multiple LEDs with a low current option. It uses I2C to communicate to the 16 outputs, and up to 14 devices can be connected on a single I2C bus.
  • Hello,

Does this need isolation?  Is there a limitation on the overall LED stack voltage?  Is there dimming involved?  What is the power level?  Is a two stage solution preferred or single?

Non-isolated I may consider PFC boost and then buck, boost using UCC28810 or UCC28811, buck with LM3444.

Isolated perhaps a PFC flyback using TPS92210 or LM3447.  This depends on how much LED power there is.

    Thanks,
