We have a customer using the BQ34Z651EVM and it won't charge a pack consisting of four 18650 cells in series. They have the EVM240 programmer attached (see the picture) and are able to talk to the eval kit.
After some initial setup, they were able to calibrate the unit using the TI utility and the instructions in the eval kit. However the eval board won’t charge or discharge, there’s no voltage on the PACK outputs (the FETS are off), and the unit won’t accept a charge when a charging voltage is attached to the PACK inputs. Despite this, the device isn’t reporting any obvious problems when queried. The status flags look “reasonable” (see the attached picture) and the unit shows it’s in discharge mode (DSG bit).
What conditions need to be met for the BQ34Z651EVM to start charging the pack?
